Who shall live in our fairy tales?

Project for a participatory archive dedicated to Antonio Gramsci by Claudia Losi

In conversation with Giulia Palomba and Maria Paola Zedda

Who is going to live in our fairy tales? Is an invitation to the inhabitants (temporary or permanent) of Cagliari to collect and consign objects, images, and words for building a collective archive, a tale for the future. It is a call to build a choral deposit of imaginaries and memories which in everyone life have been a symbol of transformation, resistance, revolution, both singular or collective.

The artist Claudia Losi moves from a reflection on Fairy Tales of Freedom, written by Antonio Gramsci to his sons during his time in prison. Her research explores the power of transformation given by the imagination and the role of who shall pass on that message.

“Where our voice shall be? What thoughts shall live in the tales we are going to tell to our children?”.

Deepening on the Gramscian concept of living fatherhood, the artist invites to read the future as a collective/ plural responsibility and to protect our imagination, as a space for discovery and chance, now under siege.
