
Marco Minoja, graduate and post-graduate specialized in Archeology at the University of Milan, from 2009 to 2015, directed several archaeological offices of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in some Italian regions, such as Sardinia and Emilia Romagna, dealing with national museum development projects and reports with the territorial museum networks.
Cultural manager with over ten years of experience in public administrations, always oriented to the improvement and growth of the cultural policies on a territorial scale, Minoja since 2018 joined as Director the Culture Department of the Municipality of Milan pointing on the quality of cultural projects and activities.
His direction leads all the cultural departments of the Municipality: altogether over twenty city museums, temporary exhibitions, care of the historic buildings, over twenty-five public libraries: the Culture Department plans the Administration’s strategic choices, coordinates the activities of all the institutes. Currently, the Department is studying the new strategic planning for civic museums in a the working group includes members of the Universities and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
Previously he led the regional offices of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage for three years coordinating territorial superintendencies, autonomous national museums and the network of other national museums in Lombardy and Sardinia, as well as the management of libraries and archives. Before joining the Ministry for Cultural Heritage, he worked for various local administrations, as a museum curator and, outside the public administration, as a freelancer, dealing with archaeological excavations, territorial research, studies and cataloging.
His bibliography includes about a hundred titles, including monographs, exhibition catalogs, museum guides, articles in specialized magazines.
